“Pole is a language. It starts with a few dozen words, and building sentences takes time. Interesting sentences take even longer! Be consistent and be kind to yourself; don’t seek outward validation. Show up for yourself, to be the best mover YOU can be, because pole is a marathon, not a sprint.“
What initially drew Nicole to pole was not pole fitness itself, but the seedy establishments in which pole dancing existed. These women danced suggestively, ‘inappropriately’ even, yet their skills weren’t without merit; they spent their nights fighting gravity in stilettos, and coming out as graceful victors. At that time, pole dancing as a fitness methodology was virtually non-existent. She was intrigued by the idea that these techniques were passed from dancer-to-dancer purely through practice and imitation. So she did what anyone would do: she bought a pole and youtubed everything related to ‘exotic’ or ‘pole’ dancing. That was 17 years ago and she’s been obsessed ever since.
Nicole is a Virginia-native and sunshine addict, who left the south after graduating college, and built a life in a very cold place… New York. During her time in NY, she met her husband, procured some cats, got Xpert-certified to teach pole, and built a studio of esteemed dancers and teachers. She has choreographed dozens of competition routines, her students going on to win medals at PSO and USPDF, even getting invited to PSO Nationals in 2022. She loves living vicariously through those who relish the spotlight.
As sad as she was to leave the studio she built and the students she led, she is ecstatic to share her passion with Wilmington, and to push students to flourish as athletes, temptresses, and everything in between.
